What are the instructions for use?

Indications

Topical use.

Position the ear canal as vertically as possible. Pressing the container, apply the necessary amount of NACOTIL® to fill the canal according to its capacity.

Gently massage the base of the ear to allow for proper product distribution. If necessary, later, clean the inside of the pinna with sterile cotton or gauze.

Finally, let 2-3 drops of product fall and externally clean the cannula with a clean gauze.

Use once a day, for a minimum of 3 weeks.

Use NACOTIL® to maintain the physiological conditions of the auricular area. Wait 30 minutes before any subsequent application. Single-use container.

Store at a temperature below 30ºC in a cool place protected from heat sources. Once opened, store at room temperature (<30ºC) or in the refrigerator and discard after 30 days.

Otitis, one of the most common pathologies in animals.

External otitis is an inflammatory process that affects the auricular pavilion and the external auditory canal, and can eventually affect the eardrum and lead to hearing loss.

It is one of the most common pathologies in animals, with a prevalence of 10-20% in dogs and 2-10% in cats.

It tends to evolve into chronic or recurrent otitis with continuous cycles of infection and inflammation, resistant to antibiotic and antifungal treatments. We recommend consulting a veterinarian for any strange signs (excessive head shaking, excessive presence of wax in the auditory canal, etc.)

Causes and risk factors of otitis in dogs and cats

External otitis (OE) in animals can be influenced by various factors and causes.

  • Predisposing factors include specific anatomical characteristics of the animal, such as narrow or small external auditory canals (EAC), seen in breeds like the Sharpei, or excess moisture in the EAC, common in breeds with pendulous ears. Hypertrichosis in the EAC, typical in toy breeds, is also considered.
  • Primary or triggering causes are those that directly initiate OE and include allergic diseases (such as food allergies and atopic dermatitis), endocrine diseases (e.g., hypothyroidism), parasites (such as Otodectes cynotis and Demodex canis), and traumas, which can be iatrogenic or self-induced.
  • Secondary causes, such as bacterial (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus spp, and others) and yeast (Malassezia pachydermatitis) infections, contribute to otitis in already abnormal ears or in the presence of predisposing factors.
  • Lastly, aggravating factors hinder the resolution of OE and are associated with chronic structural and inflammatory changes in the ear, including lichenification, hyperkeratosis, sebaceous hyperplasia, ulcerations, tumors, and media otitis.
